In 2009 he won the John Templeton Award for Theological Promise, for his book,'' Being in Action: The Theological Shape of Barth’s Ethical Vision. '' Prof Bruce McCormack, a noted scholar in Barth studies, comments that through the book, "Nimmo has already established himself at the front-ranks of the researchers in the theology of Karl Barth".〔see,Paul T. Nimmo, Being in Action: The Theological Shape of Barth's Ethical Vision (London: T&T Clark, 2007). 〕 In his review of this book Adam Neder notes, "the great value of Nimmo's study is ... the way that it tirelessly draws our attention to the fact that Barth's actualism pervades every aspect of his ethics, and thus that his ethics cannot be understood apart from a firm grasp of his actualism."〔Adam Neder, "Being in Action: The Theological Shape of Barth's Ethical Vision – By Paul T. Nimmo", IJST vol. 10 no. 2, 2008: 236-239〕 His theological studies were undertaken in Cambridge, Edinburgh, Princeton, and Tübingen. Nimmo is the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Systematic Theology since 2008, a new and important journal in the study of systematic theology. He was also the Managing Editor of the same journal in 2006. Hee gave the Kerr Lectures in Glasgow in February 2008, and a Block-Seminar on the Theology of Karl Barth at the Georg-August-Universität, Göttingen in April 2008. He is also a Fellow of the Center for Barth Studies at Princeton Theological Seminary and an active member of the Society for the Study of Theology. Ninmo is active in the Church of Scotland-Roman Catholic Joint Doctrine Commission, in the Church of Scotland Working Group on Issues in Human Sexuality, and the inter-denominational 'Why Believe?' Group, a body supported by the Action of Churches Together in Scotland organisation.〔http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/divinity/staff/search?uun=pnimmo&search=2&cw_xml=bio.php〕 He has written numerous articles on important theologians, among others, Friedrich Schleiermacher, John McLeod Campbell, and T. F. Torrance. His works focus in many ways on reformed theology, especially in the way this tradition may shape and inform the theological reflection of Christian faith and praxis. At present with Prof David Fergusson, he is working on Cambridge Companion to Reformed Theology, a work that will be published by Cambridge University Press. ==Books== *Nimmo, Paul T.
